Privacy Policy

TABAQ helps people find free iftar tables, takiyas and food points, and give in kind or volunteer. We collect as little data as possible, never sell it and show no ads.

What we collect

• Account data: your mobile number, or your email if you sign in with Google, your name, and the roles you choose.
• Role details: organisation name and type for place hosts, business name and type for restaurants and hotels, sponsor organisation and report email for sponsors, and skills for volunteers.
• Activity: bookings (place, party size, booking code), in-kind pledges, volunteer and delivery sign-ups, reports, ratings and in-app notifications.
• Location: used on your device to show nearby places, calculate routes and detect your country. It is not stored in your account. A location is stored only when a host sets their place’s location, or when surplus food is posted (pickup area).
• Photos: place photos uploaded by hosts. We ask hosts not to photograph guests’ faces.
• Camera: used by hosts only to scan booking codes; no image is stored.

We never ask for your home address or personal or health circumstances. For home delivery, the app holds no family names or addresses; the association hands them to the volunteer directly.

How we use it

• To run your account and sign-in.
• To confirm bookings and keep places within capacity.
• To connect volunteers and donors with the organiser of the place they chose.
• To review places and reports and keep the platform safe.
• To produce aggregate impact statistics without personal data.

Who we share it with

• Place hosts: see only your booking code and party size, not your name or number. If you sign up to volunteer, pledge or deliver for a place, that place’s host sees your name and number so they can contact you.
• Service providers: Google services (Firebase for sign-in, database and hosting; Google Maps for maps and routes), under their own policies.
• Legal requests: where required by law.

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Where your data is stored

Each country has its own, fully separate database, and data never moves between countries. Your country is set automatically from your location.

• Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan: Google data centres in Dammam, Saudi Arabia (Google has no data centre in Egypt, so we use the nearest one).
• Qatar and UAE: Google data centres in Doha, Qatar.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and protected by access rules that stop users from seeing each other’s data. Supervisor access is granted only by the platform team.

Retention and deletion

• We keep your account data while your account exists.
• You can delete your account at any time in the app: Account → Settings → Delete account.
• To remove all records linked to you (bookings, pledges, volunteering), or if you can’t sign in, submit a request on the account deletion page. We complete it within 30 days.

Your rights

You may ask to access, correct or delete your data. You can edit your name in the app; for anything else use the contact form.

Children

Accounts are intended for people aged 18 and over. Finding and visiting places never requires an account.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and notify users in the app about significant changes.
